What is Hometown Heroes?

The Florida Hometown Heroes Housing Program helps first-time, income-qualified homebuyers in community-focused jobs afford a primary residence near their workplace. It offers below-market interest rates, reduced fees, and no origination or discount points on FHA, VA, RD, Fannie Mae, or Freddie Mac loans.

Eligible full-time workers employed by Florida-based employers may also receive up to 5% of the loan amount (max $35,000) for down payment and closing costs through a 0% interest, 30-year deferred second mortgage. This assistance must be repaid if the home is sold, refinanced, or no longer used as a primary residence.
